With the 2004 Presidential Elections on the horizon, the hip-hop community is continuing their involvement to encourage the youth the participate. Rock the Vote, the leading non-profit, non-partisan youth voter organization, is taking an unprecedented step towards mobilizing over one million Urban youth to become involved and register to vote, by taking their mission deep into the street.

The latest, Rock the Vote has commissioned Mixtape DJ of the Year Award winner and G Unit member DJ Whoo Kid to get a mixtape to the streets carrying their activist message with artists like 50 Cent, G Unit, Nas, Lil Flip, Common, Talib Kweli, Snoop and Dead Prez already committed to donating tracks. Lebron James is set to host the tape, which is expected to be available in August.

“I feel that the way to get the politicians to take the youth of today seriously is for them to pay attention to the laws that are being passed and get involved early in the process,” says DJ Whoo Kid. “I am lucky enough to be able to use my talents to make a living in Entertainment, but for those that don’t have that option, the high costs of living and especially education are very relevant things. Things like taxation affect us all and voting is the only way to do anything about it.”
