Quite an interesting situation has arose between Shaq and Skillz. On the new Sickamore mixtape “Drop Another Day” it seems that Shaq is taking shots at Skillz. Even the VA emcee wasn’t sure at first, but after breaking it down, who else could Shaq be talking about? Here is Skillz’ post from okayplayer.com:
“Ok I’m thinking to hard but I heard a jawn last nite on the new DJ Sickamore and it sounds like Shaq Fu is coming at my neck!!! Now bare with me, cause I slept on this before making any kinda posts or anything. Its 4 references that make me say ‘This nigga is gettin at me!’ I’ma let you guys listen to it and you tell me what you think, but this is hella funny!
1. “I dont care how mad your Skillz is you cant serve me”
okay..lets just let that slide…Mad Skills is two words that are still used in hip hip. Not so much as mad anymore though.

after that he starts talking about and 1 niggas..which leads me to believe that the 1st person he was talkin about is an MC

There is plenty of speculation as to why Shaq is firing at Skillz, among the most popular theories is because of Skillz’ comments about Kobe on his “03 Rap Up” (“The dummy move of the year that would be Kobe Bryant/ y’all think she lyin’ that’s the second time Kobe been on TV cryin’ I’m like, ‘Damn Kobe in high school you was the man Kobe/ What the hell happened to you?”). But c’mon, it is known fact that Shaq doesn’t like Kobe (he just said so in an interview last week). There is other talk that the verse is aimed at Iverson (who is from VA), but that makes no sense. Especially considering that Shaq has repeatedly said that Iverson is one of his favorite players of all-time.
A much more likely reason would be “I done NBA cats, and NFL/but I stopped in 97 cuz they shit don’t sell.” That line comes from Skillz’ well known track “Ghost Writer,” where he name drops all people he has written for, but dubs out the names. If memory serves me correctly, when Skillz performed that track live last year sometime and left the names in, Shaq’s name was mentioned (along with Puffy, Will Smith, Jermaine Dupri, Mase). So I’m guessing it could be two things, one Shaq is pissed cause he found out about the name drop, or Skillz won’t write for him anymore. Skillz hasn’t mentioned anything about the ghost writing, but something tells me that will be his ammunition in his reply.
