Hip Hop has almost uniformly decried the not guilty verdict in the trial of George Zimmerman, who was charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter for shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

In and interview with MTV News, Webbie, however, offered a different take on the matter.

“I can’t see me saying, ‘Man y’all should put him in jail’… No I’m gonna leave that to God’s hands,” said the Louisiana rapper “God blessed him. God watched him and God didn’t want to put him in there with the animals in the jungle.”

“A lot of people should be able to come home from jail and get another chance,” continued Webbie, whose friend and labelmate Lil Boosie is currenctly serving time in prison for first-degree murder. “A lot of people, a lot of people, and I’m not just talkin’ about my brother, I’m talkin’ about a lot of people man.”
