Ruff Ryders, the label that was once constantly shouted out by DMX, Eve and the Lox, is moving in a new direction these days. “Ruff Pop,” a division dedicated to pop music, has officially been launched with the signing of LT. The Phili native has already had music featured on television shows including Dawson’s Creek, Jack & Jill and As the World Turns.
“I knew she was unique the first time I heard her. Her songs are all so strong. There’s no bitterness, but there’s always this sense of the woman being in the driver’s seat. It’s very positive. Anyone who listens will feel uplifted by what she has to say.” explains manager Kristi Clifford.
Waah and Dee, co-owners of Ruff Ryders, say that LT was actually the inspiration for their new imprint. “LT is one of the rawest breeds of pop and is one of the most unique artists that I have heard in a long time. She writes, sings very well and her stage performance is incredible. The Ruff Ryders and LT partnership is going to be a long lasting musical marriage. We anticipate big things from her in the future,” says Waah.
