On Saturday (June 29), Hard Knock TV hosted its second annual “Hard Knock Hoops” basketball tournament at the Orsini Resort Apartments in downtown Los Angeles, California during the 2013 BET Awards weekend. Prolific producer Drumma Boy—who has collaborated with T.I., Young Jeezy, Usher, Trey Songz—participated in the tournament, as did DJ Khalil (who’s worked with Eminem, 50 Cent, Lecrae and more), Pac Div, Thurz, Stat Quo and New York Giants wide receiver Ramses Barden, among others.
Lovell Raven, Kenny Hills and Dante Green—representing DJ Vice’s CRSVR stores—captured the tournament championship. Each team member received a PRDGY watch, Y&R Starter jacket and a bottle of the new Hennessy Luminous.
“’Hard Knock Hoops’ aims to seamlessly merge the commonalities between basketball and Hip Hop culture,” says Hard Knock TV founder Nick Huff Barili. “Ultimately, the goal is to create an atmosphere that will provide strong competition on the court while building camaraderie amongst artists, professional athletes, industry insiders and lifestyle influencers.”
“Hard Knock Hoops” is the second Hip Hop-meets-basketball tournament hosted by Hard Knock TV in 2013. The multimedia company partnered with The Smoking Section to produce its third annual “HoopXHang” tournament in Austin, Texas during SXSW in March—where Trinidad James hit the game-winning three-point shot, earning his Gold Gang team the championship.
