Multi-platinum albums, clothing line, Grammy’s, movies, cartoons, endorsements, sex toys…it just doesn’t end for Outkast and Andre 3000. With just finishing shooting for the “Get Shorty” sequel “Be Cool,” Andre has been cast as a musical prodigy in a romantic drama.
Tentatively titled the “Untitled Andre Benjamin Project,” it will take place in New Orleans in the mid-70’s with Dre playing Valentine, an upper class musician who gets involved in an interracial relationship with a lower class woman.
“This is a story that I have been passionate about being a part of for a long time,” Benjamin said in a statement. “This project is coming to life at a perfect time in my theatrical career. The whole team is really excited about the possibilities.” Two-time Emmy Award winning Director Paris Barclay (“NYPD Blue” and “City of Angels.”), is in negotiations to direct the film.
