Yesterday, in an interview with The New York Times, Kanye West compared himself to the late Apple CEO Steve Jobs, among a slew of others.

On Wednesday (June 12), Dres of Black Sheep made the same comparison between West and Jobs, but appeared to have intended a less-flattering portrayal.

“Kanye… like Steve Jobs… is one of the most powerful gay men in the world…. God Bless Him,” tweeted Dres.

The tweet, now since deleted, was the first of several. He continued, “oh… he’s not out yet…. my bad…. lmao,” before adding, “cmon y’all… i’m playin…. Steve Jobs wasn’t gay….”

Dres later apologized, stating that he didn’t intend his remarks to be homophobic. Interestingly, Dres made no mention of an apology to ‘Ye:

The “The Choice Is Yours (Revisited)” rapper may have actually intended to refer to Apple’s current CEO Tim Cook, who is gay. Jobs passed away in 2011 and was survived by his wife and four children.

Dres and Jarobi of A Tribe Called Quest formed the duo evitaN in 2012. Consequence was affiliated with Tribe, and would later sign to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint, before departing on bad terms.

This is the second time this year a rapper has questioned West’s sexuality, with Lord Jamar of Brand Nubian calling Kanye a “fag” for wearing a skirt, and releasing the diss track “Lift Up Your Skirt.”
