When the new year was upon us The Neptunes had already scheduled their second N.E.R.D. album for a March 23rd release.

With Spymob no longer a part of their roster to act as the band, the production team from Virginia will just play their own instruments. “We’ve always played our own instruments in everything we do, but we convert them into programming for the final tracks,” Hugo said. “We decided to pick up the instruments and play ourselves and leave it like that. It’s more honest and people don’t know this side to us yet.”

The debut in 2002 was critically acclaimed, and “Rockstar” became an anthem for many. “Fly or Die” will be similar to “In Search of…” in that it will be a mix of numerous genres, but expect something new. “I think we learned a lot from the first album and we’ve opened up more here,” Hugo continued. “I think we’re going places we haven’t gone before.”
