In a day when high profile relationships are more about what the publicity can do for their careers, it was always nice to see that Jay and Beyonce refused to feed into the media frenzy and turn their relationship into a tabloid best seller. Hints were dropped and everyone knew they were together, but neither would ever admit to anything or give any details.
With a marriage on the horizon, that is no longer possible and Jay opened his mouth for the first time. While celebrating at Lyor Cohen’s farewell party Jay took center stage to pay tribute to Lyor and added something that put the place into a frenzy. “You’ve been one of the best friends I could have had,” Hov told Cohen, and continued saying. “Apart from this woman beside me, who I love and who I will marry very soon.” Beyonce, who stood at his side, beamed back at Jay with what onlookers said was “the look of a women crazy in love.”
Later at the Grammy’s, when Beyonce wasn’t tying a record for most awards by a female artist (5), she was showing off the skating rink on her finger. Cameras were blinded by her new engagement ring with a massive 50 million carat diamond. That may be an exaggeration, but damn that shit is huge.
