I ain’t neva scurred but I am a lil’ shook to attend this year’s The Source Awards. The ongoing beef between XXL and The Source and 50 and Ja, to name just a few, has me wondering whether to purchase a bulletproof bra for this gathering of the rap elite. On the other hand, hip-hop has reached new heights in “class.” The publicity for this year’s program has been incredible—press conferences, releases, etc. And with the show being aired on BET for the first time, and tickets being sold to the public for the first time, there is an added incentive for The Source Enterprises, Inc. to show & prove.
Just confirmed to perform for the taping of the awards on October 13 are Nelly & Murphy Lee, Fabolous, Lil’ Jon & The East Side Boyz, Cam’ron & The Diplomats, Youngbloodz, Wyclef, Trina and Ja Rule. Also in the house at The Miami Arena will be Ashanti, Baby, Bonecrusher, Clipse, David Banner, Elephant Man, Erykah Badu, Fat Joe, Ice Cube, LL Cool J, Megan Good, Pharrell & The Neptunes, Scarface, Presidential Candidate Reverend Al Sharpton, Mike Tyson, Roy Jones, Jr., Miami Dolphin Ricky Williams and Afeni Shakur.
