After a pair of guest verses on Kendrick Lamar’s “Cartoon and Cereal” and MMG’s “Power Circle”, Florida rapper Gunplay has been garnering attention and praise from critics. Now, live from the 2012 BET Awards, the Triple C rapper revealed that he has signed a solo record deal with Def Jam Records.

In a recent interview with Vibe, the Miami rapper explained that he had officially signed his deal with the famed label only two days before the award show aired. He added that he’s already begun work on his debut for the label.

“I’ve got an album coming out, I just signed with Def Jam two days ago,” he revealed. “The ink just dried, so look out for the untitled album – so far it’s untitled – I’m sitting down with Rozay, we’re going to make everything happen and we’re going to make sure we produce the best product possible.”

Gunplay’s Triple C partner Rick Ross also confirmed the deal on Twitter, congratulating his Miami cohort on his success.
