One of the founding members of Gang Starr, Boston, Massachusetts emcee Big Shug has announced plans to release his fourth solo album, I.M. 4-EVA, on July 24. Although Gang Starr would come to fame as a duo with Guru and DJ Premier in the late 1980s, Shug’s involvement remained through many of the group’s releases, as well as collaborating with both Guru and Primo on his own works.
According to the DJPremierBlog, a fan-site that provides news and information related to the group, the Brick Records release will include a 36-page color booklet by Shug of the original Gang Starr formation featuring rare photographs.
The 17 track release features Fat Joe, M.O.P., Slaine and REKS, among others. DJ Premier is also a producer on the project, along with M.O.P.’s Fizzy Womack (a/k/a Lil Fame).
