From Mayer Hawthorne to Mike Posner to 9th Wonder, clothing label L-R-G has always looked to Hip Hop’s elite for their campaigns. Now, the street wear line has tapped Freddie Gibbs for their latest campaign, “Education Through Imagination.”
In a recent promo video, L-R-G caught up with the CTE emcee to discuss what he feels is the essence of “Education Through Imagination.” Gibbs explained that he feels that the slogan goes back to the idea of learning a certain craft, but also adding one’s own personal flair to it to make it individual.
“What I think that shit [‘Education Through Imagination’] means, [it’s] not like regular school, but not like home school, it’s like schooling yourself through your own mind, like yourself educating your own self,” he explained. “Like in rap – I don’t think nobody can teach you how to be a rapper or no shit like that. I don’t think nobody can really teach you how to be a painter; your can go to like art school and all of that shit, but at the end of the day, you have to put your own touch on that – a slice of your own genius on that shit to make it unique.”
