The Long Island Music Hall of Fame has honored the likes of Run-DMC, LL Cool J, and last year – Eric B & Rakim. The New York museum had previously held induction ceremonies, but existed online. This week it was announced that the LIMHOF signed a 15-year lease in Port Jefferson, New York, a Long Island town 50 miles away from New York City.
Construction is expected to begin this year, though there are no reports as to what artifacts will be displayed from the Hip Hop inductees. Other inductees include Billy Joel, The Ramones and The Velvet Underground’s Lou Reed.
