Hip Hop is not Chris Brown’s redemption, however rappers are preventing the masses from throwing the onetime Jive Records superstar the deuce. Today, Brown released the remix to his Top 20 single “Deuces.” On the “Deuces (Remix)”, five platinum emcees showed support to the Virginia native, including Drake, T.I., Kanye West, Fabolous and Outkast’s Andre 3000.
Both T.I. and Kanye West are familiar with power-packed collaborations. West’s “Monster” released less than six weeks ago, featured Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and Bon Iver. T.I.’s 2008 hit “Swagger Like Us” featured Jay-Z, West and Lil Wayne. Drake and West also appeared on Eminem’s “Forever”, a chart-topping single from last year, appearing on More Than A Game soundtrack and the Refill Edition of Relapse. Although he’s worked with rappers throughout his five-plus year career, this collaboration is the first of its kind for the 21 year-old Brown, who was arrested for a February 2009 battery of then-girlfriend Rihanna.
The collaboration comes with a Jay-Z and Kanye West album, Watch The Throne, tenatively planned for later this year. Jay-Z served as a one-time mentor to West at Roc-A-Fella Records, and the Brooklyn icon was reportedly blamed for blackballing Brown’s performance at the 2009 BET Awards.
