Ice Spice has been pulled into the endless drama that tends to surround Kanye West and Nicki Minaj soon after new developments about Ye’s long-delayed “New Body” joint went public.

On Tuesday (March 19), the Yeezy boss claimed in a since-deleted Instagram post that the “Munch” hitmaker recorded a verse for the aforementioned track, that it hasn’t seen the light of day yet because her team has been blocking its release.

The song was originally conceived in 2018 with Nicki and Ty Dolla $ign, and was supposed to be released as part of the Chicago native’s since-scrapped Yandhi album the following year. West and Ty then planned to include it on Vultures 1 earlier this year, but Minaj ultimately denied permission because, as she put it, “that train has left the station.”

Her fans, better known as the Barbz, have now taken to social media to express their frustration with Ice Spice trying to take her place, especially since the Bronx artist teamed up with Nicki last year on two blockbuster hits: “Barbie World” and “Princess Diana.”

“How they sisters when she sent the verse in and now snatching it after it was leaked that she was sent the song?” Nicki’s stylist Khalil wrote on Twitter soon after Ye’s post began circulating online.

Another passionate fan shared in a since-deleted post: “I hate [that] Ice Spice has shown her hand. Going against the Queen will be the demise of her career. You don’t get in the game and make a move like that. It’s not about “being scared.” it’s about being loyal to ones that are loyal to you. This is why Nicki is the way she is.”

Some took on a slightly different tone with posts like: “#Iceja is not to blame for not having the verse. @NICKIMINAJ herself declined “New Body” publicly and multiple times.”

Kanye’s IG share was in response to his former team member YesJulz (real name Julianne Goddard) leaking a text exchange wherein they spoke about sending the song to both Ice and Doja Cat to see “who sounds best.”

She didn’t specify why exactly she was leaking the messages, though it appeared to be in response to West suing her amid her unceremonious departure from his team.

The rapper and producer cut ties with her last week, writing on his Instagram Stories: “We have decided to no longer have YesJulz involved in the rollout of Vultures. All the activity on her page and with our fans in the past few days has been unauthorized.”
