Ice Spice has admitted to harboring a massive crush on one of Nickelodeon’s most popular cartoon characters in her early years, Spongebob Squarepants.
In a clip that surfaced on Wednesday (March 15), Ice Spice, complete with her trademark red hair, opened up about having a crush on the Bikini Bottom native. The Bronx rap star explained that Spongebob is “the only animated character” she’s ever felt strongly about.

“The only animated character I ever had a crush on was like, SpongeBob,” she said. “He’s very integrated in my life.”
This isn’t the first time Ice Spice has displayed her admiration for the sponge-shaped cartoon icon. On her debut EP Like..?, Spice put her fandom on full display with a track in reference to the show, titled “Bikini Bottom” — which features a sample from the show’s iconic theme song.
Besides giving flowers to her animated icons, Ice Spice has expressed her love for a few artists who have paved the way for her. Most recently, she referred to Pop Smoke as one of rap’s goats in an interview with DAZED.
“I love Pop Smoke. He’s goated,” she said about the late rapper. “I was definitely bumping him every day. That was even before I started making music seriously, in the studio. I was already rapping on some fun shit.
She additionally threw in the names of other New York drill rappers who came before her such as Brooklyn natives Sheff G, Sleepy Hallow and Bizzy Banks.
Spice continued: “But before I started recording, I was bumping him a lot. Sheff G too, of course. Sleepy Hallow. Bizzy Banks. It was a lot of people in the drill scene.”

In January, Ice Spice opted to also share her admiration for her New York native Nicki Minaj. While chatting with XXL, Spice noted how Nicki’s influence helped lay the blueprint for female rappers.
“When I saw Nicki, I was so mesmerized,” she said. “She’s the first female rapper that I seen. And ever since then, I was kinda set on what I wanted to be.”
