The N.W.A legend was a guest on former NBA star Iman Shumpert and his brother Ahrii’s Iman Amongst Men podcast where he reflected on his decorated career.

When asked about his “proudest career accolade,” Cube replied: “Wow… I would say Friday because I was kinda out of my element as far as writing and producing. Doing a comedy, everybody was surprised at the time because there was nothing comedic in my music.
“We had funny little parts in our music, but everything was hardcore so everybody thought I was tripping a little bit, like, ‘Damn, Ice Cube’s coming with a comedy?'”

The West Coast rap veteran said he gained confidence to develop Friday from his classic song “It Was A Good Day.”
“I learned from ‘It Was a Good Day.’ To me, it was the song version of Friday,” he added. “It’s me coming out the box, because everything was hard and then here I go [and] flip it.

Ice Cube has been locked in a long-running dispute with Warner Bros. over the ownership of his Friday film franchise, but he recently offered a promising update on its future.
During an interview on Sirius XM’s Flavor of the Week in June, the 55-year-old revealed that the series could be brought back to life after more than two decades of inactivity.

“We finally got some traction with Warner Bros.,” he told host Flavor Flav. “They have new leadership. My man Mike DeLuca, who used to be at New Line when I first started, when I first did the first Friday and Players Club and All About the Benjamins. Mike DeLuca was there, so now he’s running Warner Bros.”
Additionally, the Straight Outta Compton star shared a recap of his talks with the studio.
“It was like, ‘Yo, what the fuck is going on with Friday? Man, let’s get this back online,’” he continued. “And I was a little hot ’cause they had took so long because John Witherspoon passed away. Tiny passed away. A.J. Johnson passed away.
“Like, man, we keep losing people and y’all keep dicking around not doing the movie the way it need to be done. They want to do it, but the key is it gotta be done, or we shouldn’t fuck with it. So they finally came to their senses.”
