Homeboy Sandman has returned to the mic, blessing fans with a Little Simz flip for his latest single, “Human” — check it out below.
Spitting 16 over the Inflo-produced “Gorilla” beat, Sandman dropped the official video for the track on Wednesday (April 26) and said he was inspired by the original track almost immediately upon hearing it for the first time in New Haven, CT.

“I found the instrumental on Tuesday morning, loaded it in my phone for the long drive to Nebraska,” he said in a statement. “[I] wrote the song overnight on the trip. laid a demo on Garageband when we got to the hotel. rocked the show. shot the video the next day in Nebraska before heading home using the demo. drove from Nebraska straight to the studio to record the official version.”
Doig a great job over the beat, Homeboy Sandman spits: “Sand keep jackin’ other people’s beats/ Standing up to the regime and calling other people sheep/ I think he right/ I think he like that ‘cuz he stand at nearly seven feet/ And hailing from the city that ain’t never sleep.”
Homeboy Sandman may not have as much mainstream success as some other rappers on the scene today, but he has some fans in high places, including Doja Cat, who sang his praises back in December 2021.
During an Instagram Live session, she played the Queens rapper’s song “Couple Bars (Honey, Sugar, Darling, Sweetie, Baby, Boo),” taken from his 2012 Stones Throw album First of a Living Breed.
While noting he’s one of her favorite rappers, Doja Cat couldn’t stop laughing at the outro of the track.
“So, Homeboy Sandman is a rapper and he’s really fucking dope, he’s one of my favorite rappers,” she said. “But he does this thing. There’s a part at the end of the song where he’s just supposed to be talking, but when he talks he still sounds like he’s rapping and it’s kinda funny.”

She added: “I don’t know why that’s funny. It’s not that funny but it’s kinda funny to me, I don’t know. Maybe just to me.”
