French Montana‘s recent visit to Columbia ended with a run-in with law enforcement officials — and the “Unforgettable” hitmaker documented the whole thing.
On Tuesday (October 31), just as the 38-year-old was flying out of Cali, a city southwest of Bogotá, his private jet was apparently searched thoroughly by narcotics officers. Whether or not he was actually suspected for trafficking drugs across borders is unclear, thought that is the story his social media tells.

“Columbia, I love ya’ll,” he said in an Instagram video from the tarmac. “But ya’ll ain’t have to do me like this. I ain’t have to have them dogs in there like that. Know we coke boys but you ain’t coke boys for that. Streets is so fucked up, they thought I was bringing a big load.”
In the caption, he wrote: “TRAPPED IN COLOMBIA [Columbian flag emoji] ! THEY THOUGHT I WAS BRINGING BACK THE BIG LOAD !! #cokeboys”
The New York rapper didn’t seem too concerned about being searched, most likely because he had nothing to hide. However, not everyone makes it out the other side of such investigations.
Earlier this year, Fetty Wap was sentenced to six years in prison for his role in helping run an extensive drug ring out of Long Island. The “Trap Queen” rapper (real name Willie Junior Maxwell II) had been in custody since August 2022, when his bail was revoked following allegations that he displayed a firearm and threatened to kill someone while on a FaceTime call.

He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, prompting prosecutors to argue for a longer sentence by claiming that Fetty had used his platform to “glamorize the drug trade” while making millions from his music after “Trap Queen” dropped in 2015.
“Young people who admire the defendant and are considering selling drugs need to be sent a message that selling drugs is not a glamorous lifestyle and, if they participate in that trade, they will receive lengthy prison sentences,” said Breon Peace, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District, who asked for a sentence between seven and nine years.
The New Jersey native’s sentencing came in late May when he appeared before Judge Joanna Seybert at the federal court in Central Islip, New York.
He was arrested on federal drug charges at New York’s Citi Field in October 2021 as he was gearing up to take the stage at the Rolling Loud Festival. The rapper was accused of running an extensive drug ring out of Long Island, allegedly helping traffic over 100 kilograms of opioids, crack and cocaine over from the West Coast to be distributed in Long Island.

During the investigation, the FBI recovered 16 kilograms of cocaine, 2 kilograms of heroin, fentanyl pills, two 9mm handguns, a rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, a .40 caliber pistol, ammunition and $1.5million in cash.
