Dr. Dre has tasted success that most could only dream of over the last four decades, but there’s one regret that still haunts him to this day.
During an interview with Lindsey Renee on her Behind the Patrol podcast, the legendary producer confessed that he got rid of all of his records and it’s a decision he’s “not proud of.”

While discussing sampling Leon Haywood’s 1975 track “I Want’a Do Something Freaky to You” on “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang,” Dre admitted that he no longer owns a copy of the song due to him selling his extensive vinyl collection roughly two decades ago.
“There’s another story that I’m really not proud of,” he said. “I had a collection of records. I had over 80,000 albums that I stored in a warehouse and at a certain point, I think in the early 2000s, I sold all of my wax — and I’m kicking myself in the ass still about that.”

When asked why he sold his collection, Dre explained: “It was a warehouse. I had a turntable in there and a bar and everything. And then all of a sudden it just turned into a bill because I was never going. It took me 10 years to decide to sell and I finally did and I’m really pissed off at myself about that.”

In other news, Dr. Dre recently revealed that Eminem is releasing a new album this year, which was confirmed by the Detroit rap legend following the 2024 NFL Draft.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this year, Dre said: “Let me tell you something, let me explain something to you right now: Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year.”

He added: “And I actually talked to him and he told me it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So he has an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire. I’m actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time for tomorrow.
“And he holds his music close to his chest so I haven’t heard everything. I haven’t even heard everything complete that I’ve done, but I’m gonna hear it, and he’s putting out an album this year.”
Em confirmed his 12th album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) with a true crime-inspired teaser trailer that also featured a cameo from 50 Cent.
Dr. Dre is also reuniting with Snoop Dogg on the latter’s own upcoming album Missionary, which is due out later this year as well.

During a recent appearance on the All the Smoke podcast, Snoop described the project as “masterful” and praised Dre’s ability to get the best out of him.
“I’m in the lab with Dr. Dre right now. That’s Death Row/Aftermath. We finishing that up right now, tidying up the pieces to that. He’s a perfectionist,” he said. “When you hear what we have and how he got me rapping, it’s like a grown Snoop Dogg. There’s some growth to him.
