Dr. Dre once agreed to a meeting with Berner about getting into the weed business, but humbly turned down the offer, saying that he wanted to approach it from a more secure space.
During an interview on The Bootleg Kev Podcast published on Tuesday (October 3), the Cookies boss revealed that he pitched a strain to the N.W.A veteran “three or four years ago,” but his plan never came to fruition.

“Dre sat down with me and I showed him a jar of what we wanted to call ‘The Chronic,’” he began. “It was by far the best-looking weed we’ve ever produced — it was incredible, beautiful, it was orange, purple, funky, stanky … it looked like it was out of a fucking movie, how good this weed looked.
“I showed him ‘The Chronic’ and he was just like, ‘yeah, I fuck with it I appreciate Slim [the Mobster] putting this play together and, y’know, we’ll think about it, but like I don’t know if I really want to put myself in the industry.’
“He told me, ‘I got money money and I don’t really want to play with that until, y’know, maybe it’s federally legal. I just don’t want to risk it.’”
Last year, Berner made history as the first cannabis CEO to grace the cover of the prestigious Forbes magazine.
The Taylor Gang rapper and Cookies co-founder celebrated the monumental milestone on social media with a photo of his face on the magazine and a lengthy caption reveling in his hard-won success.
“Wow, not only is this extremely humbling, but this is the definition of life goal shit!” he wrote in the caption. “It’s every entrepreneur’s dream to make the cover of @forbes Magazine but the reality is many founders and CEO’s of the largest companies in the world will never get a chance to achieve that goal.”
He added: “To be selected as one of the faces for federal legalization in our country is a huge compliment to my work.”

Berner then reflected on his journey to get to Forbes, explaining his Cookies cannabis brand was the first to be featured in a “top tier publication.”
“In 2021 @adage named cookies one of the hottest brands,” he said. “That was the 1st time a cannabis company was featured in the advertising industry’s top tier publication. Today I’m officially the 1st cannabis executive to be featured on the iconic @forbes magazine cover since the company’s launch in 1917! I live for stuff like this.”
