Donald Glover has released the first trailer for his new movie Bando Stone & The New World — and it’s shaping up to be an edge-of-your-seat watch.
The rapper and actor premiered the two-minute-long clip in IMAX theaters on Thursday night (June 27) prior to the screening of A Quiet Place: Day One.

He gave fans just a few hours’ notice, writing on Instagram earlier that day: “Bando Stone trailer is coming tonight @imax” alongside a photo of him holding two cinema tickets.
Produced by RCA and Gilga, the film sees Glover (a.k.a. Childish Gambino) playing a fictional famous musician named Bando Stone who must navigate a post-acapolyptic world, despite his only talent being singing.

The creepy yet comedic trailer shows Glover’s character banding together with fellow survivors to make their way to safety, only to encounter giant blood-thirsty creatures, electromagnetic traps and other surreal, potentially extraterrestrial threats.
“What are you when the world ends?” a sobering question is posed to viewers.
The trailer has yet to be officially released online, but fan-captured footage can be seen below.

Produced by RCA Records and Donald Glover’s creative company Gilga, Bando Stone & The New World also stars English actress Jessica Allain, best known for her roles in horror thrillers Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Fear and Thriller.
The movie, which will be available exclusively in IMAX theaters, will be accompanied by a soundtrack album from Childish Gambino that is expected to be his final full-length release under his rap moniker.

A release date has yet to be announced, but the Atlanta star previously said that the album would be out this summer.
The project’s lead single, “Lithonia,” is set to drop next Friday (July 2), Bino revealed during a TikTik Live earlier this week.
He also vented about the song leaking ahead of time and singled out streaming service Audiomack for allegedly being responsible.
“‘Lithonia’ is coming out July 2nd,” he said. “That got leaked. It kinda pissed me off, to be honest. That’s another reason why y’all don’t get good shit. For what? It’s not valuable enough. It’s just a single.

“I know who did it, Audiomack. Fucking, no soup for you. You’re not getting the album now. That’s what time I’m on.”
Bando Stone & The New World will serve as Gambino’s second album of 2024 following Atavista, the updated version of his 2020 LP 3.15.20 which dropped in May.
