Released on Friday (April 28), the anime, cyberpunk, and Y2K-influenced commercial for the footwear brand’s latest product, the UNO sneaker, which retails for $80, highlights the “dueling light and dark sides of Doja’s personality” against each other in an anime-style battle.

“Building out this campaign and a new world for the Uno with my creative director Bret Alan Nelson and Skechers has been amazing,” Doja said in a statement. “This is just the start. I look forward to sharing more of what we’ve been creating soon.”
Nelson added: “I was super inspired by the idea of the different UNO colors and which UNO gives you the most power. We reference old school anime fight scenes within a battle of ‘Doja Cat vs. Doja Cat’ and the ultimate theme is that in the end we will never follow another’s footsteps.”
Earlier this week, Skechers announced Doja Cat as its first artist-in-residence. The rapper shared the news via a post on Instagram, wearing a custom one-piece made entirely of Sketchers by Ohio-based designer FriskMeGood.
The rapper later wore her outfit and the kicks to the Time100 Gala to mark the start of the partnership.
“Skechers has given me a new canvas to create,” the “Juicy” rapper said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “I can’t wait to show everyone what we are building.”
While the exact sneakers she wore at the gala aren’t available, a similar version can be purchased now online and in Skechers retail stores. The kicks come in a variety of 10 colors, as well as medium and wide widths. They also have a built-in, hidden one-inch heel.

In related news, Doja Cat was one of the few musicians and entertainers to receive an award from the 27th Annual Webby Award ceremony. As well as the Planet Her rapper, Rihanna, SZA and more were chosen.
“This year’s Webby Winners speak to the incredible potential of the Internet and the people who shape it.” Claire Graves, president of The Webby Awards, said in a statement. “They have set the benchmark for excellence in their respective category and are an inspiration for us all to continue striving towards a more connected and creative digital world.”
