Doja Cat has never been one to shy away from controversy and big statements, whether it’s over tattoos or t-shirts.
But she recently revealed that one energy-drink-inspired livestream went too far, even for her.

On Thursday (February 15), Doja appeared on a Twitch livestream for the Therapy Gecko Show, a program created by a Maryland man named Lyle Drescher. Drescher, as the show’s name implies, dresses up as a gecko and takes phone calls.
During Doja’s appearance on the program, she was asked about Celsius energy drink, and recounted a story about why she can’t consume it anymore.

“I almost got into a beef because of Celsius,” she said. “I was singing a song and doing the voice of somebody else. I filmed myself doing the song in a crazy voice, and it was my really bad impression of that person. And people took it super-wrong. They thought that I was trying to cause drama and issues when really I was just being a fucking asshole. I was being dumb.”
Doja did not specify who she was imitating, but XXL pointed out that in recent years she has affectionately impersonated both Ariana Grande and Beyoncé online.
The “Paint the Town Red” rapper hasn’t only been apologizing for energy drink-fueled antics lately. She’s also readying for a Coachella headlining slot.
Last month, it was reported that Doja had allegedly been selected to headline for Coachella 2024, along with Lana Del Rey and Tyler, The Creator.

Hits Daily Double broke the story. All three artists were later confirmed as headliners, along with a reunited No Doubt.
Travis Scott was reportedly in conversations for a headlining slot as well, but apparently things didn’t shake out.
Hopefully Tyler, The Creator can ease the pain felt by Odd Future fans at Coachella in 2023 when Frank Ocean unceremoniously pulled out of the two-weekend performance after a disappointing first set that began over an hour late.
The R&B star announced three days before his scheduled return that he’d been forced to back out due to an injury. Blink-182 was then lined up as his replacement.

According to Pitchfork, Frank was advised by his doctor to rest up after suffering two fractures and a sprain in his left leg prior to his first performance.
“It was chaotic,” the Blonde crooner said of his aforementioned set in a statement. “There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.”

Ocean’s damaged leg, which was initially said to be a “serious ankle injury,” first came to light when he reportedly hurt himself while riding a bike around the Coachella festival grounds just days before his big performance.
