De La Soul‘s Trugoy The Dove is set to be honored with a mural in Austin, Texas.
Popular street art muralist Tristan Eaton took to Instagram on Monday (March 6) to reveal he’s painting a tribute of the late rapper following his death on February 12.

“I don’t normally post my sketch / mock ups but this is a special occasion,” he wrote. “This week I’m painting a tribute to the late, great #Trugoy of @wearedelasoul in #AUSTIN at the @museumofgraffiti – please come by and BRING DAISIES to frame the mural!!!

Eaton’s love for the group goes back to when he was kid, with the artist revealing he once got arrested for stealing one of De La Soul’s albums on his 13th birthday.
The finished mural will be unveiled on Saturday (March 11), where De La Soul member Maseo will deliver a DJ set. It coincides with the Museum of Graffiti’s inaugural “Art of Hip Hop” pop-up exhibition, which runs from March 10 to 28.
Posdnuos also left several heart emojis in the comments section of Eaton’s post.
Posdnuos and Maseo paid tribute to their longtime friend and collaborator, Trugoy The Dove, on the group’s Instagram account on February 22.
“Your passing is a great loss not only to us, but also to the entire Hip Hop community,” Posdnuos wrote. “You were a true artist who used music to inspire and uplift others, and you will be deeply missed by all who knew you.
“This is heavy on our hearts and minds but we are smiling and even laughing at all the great times we shared with you. As we attempt to navigate this world without you, we stand grateful and proud of all you accomplished on this earth.”
Maseo added: “I want to truly thank you for having the birds eye view of our collective vision to be a group. Before Trugoy The Dove, I met J.D. Dove aside being called Dave in 1985.
