Dame Dash has responded to Lyor Cohen’s comments surrounding the demise of Roc-A-Fella Records.
During a recent conversation with America Nu Network, Dash suggested that he wasn’t thrilled with Cohen’s explanation on Drink Champs of JAY-Z and Dame’s infamous 2004 split, alleging it lacked necessary context — namely, that it was Cohen who exacerbated the conflict.

“I think he’s right on that. But I do think there could be more of an elaborate answer,” began Dash. “Are you the one that showcased that? Did you give him the option? Did you push him? Make him aware of what he could do in that and what you would support?” he posed.
“Did you give him the idea to do that?” he continued. “Did you violate and have meetings behind his back? So, when that meeting happened when Dame was yelling, who made that meeting?” he concluded, referencing a clip that made its rounds on YouTube in which Dame verbally reprimanded his staff over having a meeting with JAY-Z without his knowledge.

Dash’s response stems from Cohen’s recent appearance on Drink Champs, where he addressed claims he is the reason Dame Dash and Jay-Z are “not together” anymore.
“Absolutely not.” He added, “If Lyor was the reason, then they never were really together in the first place. Mic drop.”

This is not the first time Dame has suggested Cohen played a role in Roc-A-Fella’s demise. “My beef was with Lyor cause I think he’s a fake CEO,” he said during a 2014 VladTV interview.
“And I think he’s fronting on my culture, but he can’t front on anybody else. And I’m calling him out publicly. And I want him to stop trying to rape my culture. Go make some money with some other people. Like stop having your agenda be Hip Hop…It was like they have people that their job is to create beef, so that they can monetize it.”
He continued: “But they don’t let their culture feel it. But they make money from it. And they can’t make any money or get any respect in their culture. That’s why they’re in our culture. Because the minute that they were allowed to be there, they would go. But they just can’t…Never had a beef with Jay. Always with Lyor and his whole crew. He’s the one that ruined Roc-A-Fella. Lyor Cohen.”
Over the years, Dame has accused Cohen of being a culture vulture and at one point in time, put him on blast for his refusal to acknowledge his Dash’s existence and accomplishments.

“If someone even asks him a question, he acts entitled like he did on our platform, and he pretends he owns something that he doesn’t,” Dash previously said on The Joe Budden Podcast. “And they always try to erase our history and act like the people fighting for us never existed, and I think he flagrantly displayed that in public just because he’s so used to it.”
