Dame Dash has opened up about why Freeway was the artist that “impressed” him the most out of the entire Roc-A-Fella roster.
The Harlem-bred mogul recently sat down for an interview with the Philly rapper on The CEO Show, and gave him his flowers after seeing all that he’s been through in and out of the music business.

“I wanted to publicly give you my blessing as a general. I want everyone to know that if I were to say, ‘Who at Roc-A-Fella has impressed [me] the most?’ it would be you,” Dame told Freeway. “Because you been through the most and you’ve done everything on your own. You have not sold your soul, you stayed cool.
“You did records with them, you doing records with me. It’s not a problem, no issues. When you get in a position of power, I see you sharing it. You really want to see your boys do good. You’re a man of your word and that’s the most important thing.”

Dame Dash went on to reveal that Freeway was actually Aaliyah‘s favorite artist on the Roc-A-Fella team.
“You were Aaliyah’s favorite artist on Roc-A-Fella, remember that,” Dame added. “She had a video and I was going out there so she could do the record with you… Because she really fucked with you. Free of charge, the whole nine.”

Freeway replied in shock: “I didn’t know I was her favorite artist. That’s dope.”
The “What We Do” rapper signed to Roc-A-Fella in 2001 as a member of State Property following his appearance on JAY-Z‘s The Dynasty: Roc La Familia album the year prior.
Last month, Dame Dash revealed he was open to sitting down with Hov and squashing their long-standing beef.
“There’s things — and I don’t want to get into it — that morally I can’t be a part of,” Dash explained to fellow Roc-A-Fella co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke.

“But if [JAY] could just shed all the things that I don’t like morally, and all the people who have done things and are doing things that morally I can’t fuck with, [then] we could fuck with just family.”
