Common and Pete Rock‘s joint album The Auditorium Vol. 1 is right around the corner, and they have now released another single from the project along with a visual supplement.
On Wednesday (June 26), the rap legends dropped “All Kind of Ideas” accompanied by a music video that features them chopping it up inside the studio with Black Thought.

Although the Roots MC does not spit a verse on the song, his presence is certainly felt on the no-nonsense, bars-heavy joint.
“I’m Soul Brother Uno, black from the future/ Make beats on the table if I break my computer/ Still make hits like I used to/ Keep your top five, I’m God’s favorite producer,” Pete raps, proving he’s just as sharp in the booth as he is behind the boards.

Common then takes the baton and spits: “Rack focus to the Black Moses that’s light-skinned/ A dawn like when the night end, I’m multi-hyphened/ My stipend is ripened from Chi to Big Apple/ On the mic I’m Micah Parsons, any subject I tackle.”

In an Instagram post promoting the new release, Common gave Pete Rock his props as a double threat, calling him one of the best producer-rappers of all time.
“We MC’s have a tendency to over rap on some beats and I always had a philosophy that producer/MC’s ride their beats better. Not every producer, but select ones. Pete Rock is one of them,” he wrote. “I believe he belongs on that Mt. Rushmore of Producer/Rappers.

“Others for me on that level are Q-Tip, Large Professor, Jay Dilla & Kanye. I may not be thinking of some of the others but you get what I’m saying. That said, it is a joy and blessing to have Pete featured on our new release ALL KIND OF IDEAS which is out everywhere now. So check the verbal excursion.”
The Auditorium Vol. 1 is set to drop on July 12. In addition to the above cut, the excitement surrounding the album has been stoked by two other singles: “Wise Up” and “Dreamin.”

Appearing at a MusiCares panel alongside Lupe Fiasco in April, the Windy City native said: “Y’all gon’ think I’m just talking, but this new Pete Rock joint… I’ma see y’all when I come back, whenever I’m back, and y’all can tell me if I’m bullshittin’ or not.
“It’s in my top [three]. I’ve had a couple people come to me and say, ‘Yo, this is one of your best albums.’ So I’m excited about it.”
The 52-year-old first revealed he was working on an album with the veteran producer during an appearance on MSNBC’s The Beat with Ari Melber last year.
