Coi Leray has taken her frustration with an old record label boss in a big way — and it seems to be paying off.
On Tuesday (October 22), Leray made a long post on Instagram. The photo was a screenshot of the Instagram account of Billy Jones, one of the two heads, along with Karriem “K-Mack” Mack, of 1801 Records, which signed Coi early in her career (her bio on the label’s website says that Coi “is aiming to make sure that 2018 is hers for the taking”).

“I will be going live today to explain how this guy has been trying to take over my life and ruin my career,” Leray began her post, talking about Jones.
“There’s nothing in this life I want more than this guy right here to leave me alone. He has done NOTHING for my career and has been trying to take from me for the past 5 years.”

She then began to tell the story of her time with the label.
“5 years ago I signed the worst production deal with 1801 when I was 21 because they finessed me and had me use there [sic] lawyer that didn’t read me the correct terms,” she wrote. “I’m so depressed with these people on my back and I will never drop another record in my life until I fight every bone in my body for this man right here to just leave me alone.”

She said that Mack “has been over the entire situation and had been willing to just part ways gracefully but Billy J is the one who is trying to hold on.”
“KMACK DOESNT EVEN WORK WITH 1801 anymore and wants nothing to do with Billy J, the only person making this shit hard is Billy J,” she continued.

Journee, who was also a part of the 1801 roster, commented on Coi’s post to back up her story.
“Girllll i went thru the SAME THING with them,” she wrote. “Billy is so controlling! It’s crazy bc you were one of the selling points that sold me when signing with them. It was a nightmare tryna get out of this deal. After years of fighting them, I’m finally free. I feel your pain.”
Not long after posting her message, Leray put up an Instagram Story thanking people for their support.
“Shout out to the ones who spoke up!!!” she wrote. “You guys don’t understand how helpful this was for me… Shout out to all the music executives who reached out!!”

In other Coi news, last month it was revealed that she and Trippie Redd are an item once more after a nasty split a few years back.
