Coi Leray and Angie Martinez have seemingly upset Benzino, following the “Players” rapping stating in an interview with Martinez that Zino was initially “envious” of his daughter Coi’s success.
On Saturday (November 11), Benzino took to Instagram, where he responded to his daughter’s claim — a comment the 26-year-old made during a recent line of questioning on the Angie Martinez IRL podcast.

“This has to be the most ridiculous [poop emoji] I’ve heard in my entire life on this earth. How tf can be envious towards someone I RAISED, NUTURED, PROVIDED FOR, INFLUENCED AND LOVE VERY DEARLY???,” he began in a long Instagram caption alongside a clip from the ladies’ recent chat. “This industry and the internet have completely messed up the minds of this young generation. I’m tired of her pushing a false narrative about who I am and what I’ve done as a father.
“In my 40 years in hip hop I’ve never ever seen an artist DOG their parents out the was Coi does and it’s embarrassing and sad…and one last thing, @angiemartinez knows she doesn’t like me so she’s just being manipulative and messy,” he added.
“They want me crash out but I’ve worked on myself so hard that I ain’t going backwards for ANYTHING, but what I won’t do is allow ANYONE to slander my name and push a false narrative on my reputation and who I am. I’ve shed too many blood, sweat and tears, survived street wars and indictments. Nope no more,” Benzino concluded.
In the Coi/Angie chat, the radio legend asks Leray how her father has handled her fame, to which she responded: “At first it was rocky, because I felt like he couldn’t handle my success. I felt like it did come from an envious place. Which is okay, because he’s human, and that’s fine.”

This is not the first time the father-daughter duo have aired out their issues in public. In a March 2021 Twitter rant, Coi Leray admitted she was ashamed to be Benzino’s daughter.
“And this is why I NEVER WANTED ANYBODY TO KNOW!!!” she wrote at the time. “I’M EMBARRASSED TO BE YOUR DAUGHTER. I should have been a boy your right cause I would have knocked you the fuck out already. NUMB TO THE PAIN!! I’m hurting right now but it’s all good. Ima be the one to PUT US RIGHT BACK IN THAT MANSION.”
She later apologized for the social media tirade, saying: “Forgive me for stepping out of character. I thought I prepared myself for this moment but I’m still not ready. I’m still angry. Don’t hold grudges.”
The following year, Benzino mocked his daughter on Instagram after her debut album Trendsetter sold just 11,000 units in its first week. However, the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta alumnus pleaded his innocence by claiming he was hacked.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, the 58-year-old music industry veteran opened up about his rocky relationship with Coi and became visibly emotional when addressing allegations he’s a deadbeat dad.
“I got thick skin, man. I’m one of those people like, let’s just forget it and move forward,” he said during an appearance on the We In Miami podcast, in July.

“I went through a lot, man,” he said while crying. “And it was hard for me to be looked upon — like I’ve been called all kinds of shit, but a deadbeat dad? Come on, man.
“I love my daughter. I don’t want to be that. I don’t want to be known as that. I don’t care what people think, but that hurt me. That’s my daughter, I raised her.”

He added: “When people say I hate on Coi’s career and jealous and all this, that shit is like, man, it’s evil. Because my love is huge for that little girl, man. That’s my little girl, man.”
Benzino then admitted that he isn’t “proud” of arguing with his baby girl on social media, describing their public spat as “one of the worst things I’ve been through in my life. I’ve been through hell.”
