Chingy will apparently not be “right thurr” — if “thurr” is the Log Cabin Republicans concert he was scheduled to appear at this coming weekend.

In the face of mounting criticism for his decision to perform at “Red White & Rock,” a September 29 event put on by “the nation’s original and largest organization representing gay conservatives and allies” and featuring Donald Trump Jr., Chingy announced, via comment on an Instagram post, that he would instead cancel his performance because “I don’t want ro [sic] be in the middle of this mess.”

“And no I’m not a Trump supporter nor supporter of anyone but Chingy,” he continued. “Thurr you have it.”

HipHopDX has reached out to the event’s organizer to clarify the situation, but did not receive an immediate response.

The controversy began on Friday (September 20) when Baller Alert posted about Chingy’s appearance on the bill, and the rapper himself jumped into the comments to respond to disappointed and confused fans.

“I’m a say this one time,” he began. “My job is to perform and get paid to perform, not caurr [sic] about politics. Now y’all find [something] else to do with yurr [sic] time.”

After several commenters speculated that he was performing at the event, where ticket prices start at $1,000, because he was “down bad” financially, Chingy followed up.

“You can’t be down bad when you just bought a 500k house,” he shot back. “Those people don’t hate me because they love my music. Music isn’t racist and that’s how I play it… I’m a performers w[h]ether theses [sic] people political homosexual or whatever they all love music… [M]y job as an artist is to perform and make timeless music.”

As noted, shortly thereafter Chingy reversed his tune.

The St. Louis rapper most recently made headlines last month when, seemingly out of nowhere, Drakepraised the St. Louis rapper’s 2003 hit “One Call Away”  – but it was unclear if Drizzy was being serious or sarcastic.

Taking to his Instagram Story on August 18, Drizzy shared a screenshot of some of the song’s lyrics.

The next day, I’m with the fellas at the cage playin’ ball/ Here she come with her friends, they posted up on the wall/ Now I’m showin’ out, tryna dunk, tryna dribble/ Break fast through the middle just to see her smile and giggle.

Underneath it, he wrote:  “Nah Chingy I felt this like why do I play better when the tings aren’t watching you really struck a chord with this one goated lyric.”

He then had more to say, posting the screenshot a second time and adding: “Also, the face you said tryna dribble like off that bar we know you were ass at ball but your ting showed up and you started doing too much like this real af you are a guy for that bar.”
