The Breakfast Club personality appeared on the latest episode of the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast alongside co-host DJ Envy this week, where he reflected on past beefs with rappers — including Busta.

The pair squared up in July 2012 at Melanie Fiona’s party in Los Angeles following the 2012 BET Awards, with the incident making its way into the news.

A photo of their argument also surfaced online, showing Charlamage being restrained by record executive and Akon’s brother, Bu Thiam, while Busta stood metres away behind members of his entourage.

“Who ran down on me? Busta, Ma$e. Yeah, Busta ran down on me,” Charlamagne said during the interview. “I was being disrespectful. But you know what it was, though, I’ll say this: I wanted to win so bad when we got The Breakfast Club, anybody could get it.

“So there was some people, and I apologize to people for this all the time, just because we have to hold our own icons in high regard. If we don’t respect our OGs, then nobody will.

“It was that freezer shit, man. I used to put rappers in a freezer back in the day. I put Busta in the freezer ’cause Busta had did a freestyle over [JAY-Z and Kanye West’s] ‘Otis’ beat. And the crazy shit is, the shit is actually hard, but I was just being an asshole.”

Charlamagne Tha God went on to detail the events at the party that led to his and Busta Rhymes’ public disagreement.

“So it was Busta Rhymes and DMX — God bless the dead — on the ‘Otis’ beat, but I gave him ‘Donkey of the Day’ for no reason,” he said. “It really was for no reason.
