Chance The Rapper is warming fans up for his Star Line project by previewing a new collaboration with DJ Premier.
The Chicago rapper took to social media on Thursday (May 9) to share a 32-second clip of unreleased music, which finds him rapping over production from the legendary Preemo.

The track, titled “Together,” sees Chance The Rapper spitting about family life and reminiscing on memories with loved ones.
“If you keep the house in the family, you can keep the family in the house/ If you on the run, you got family in the South/ We used to watch ‘Annie, are you okay?’ on the couch/ My cousin used to slam me ’til I punched him in the mouth,” he raps.

He continues: “My auntie used to cook for 20 people every week/ My uncle in the basement even if they never speak/ He come and grab a beer sometime, he kiss her on the cheek/ Know how to fix a plate and fix a bike and fix a leak.”
“Together” samples The Intruders’ “Memories Are Here to Stay,” which is the same song DJ Premier flipped for fellow Chi-Town native Common‘s classic 2000 track “The 6th Sense.”
Chance wrote “next week” in his Instagram caption, but it’s unclear whether he’s referring to the release of the single or the whole project.
DJ Premier isn’t the only big name who has contributed to Star Line. Chance The Rapper shared a trailer for the project last month, with the clip featuring cameos from Lil Wayne, Jermaine Dupri, T-Pain, Lil Yachty, Vic Mensa and Jazze Pha, among others.
The album has been in the works for years, with Chano breaking down the concept of the project on Sway in the Morning back in 2022.

“I was inspired by Marcus Garvey in the early 1900s, 1919 through actually 1922, so 100 years ago now,” he said. “He started and ran this very important, integral shipping line. He had a fleet of ships, these giant ocean liners which are the size of cruise ships, that he owned and funded with common Black folks’ money.
“But what he did with it was he created a trade route between the United States, all of the Black islands and the continent of Africa, and that created a network of people where people from all over the world were interconnected and working with each other and taking trips together, and created this connectivity that didn’t exist before.”
The Grammy-winner also hailed Star Line as “one of my proudest projects” during an appearance on Audacy Check In last year.
“It’s one of my proudest projects in terms of writing and artistic vision,” he said. “There’s an immense amount of work to be done with it. But it’s cool ‘cause I feel like with the love and intentionality that goes into making each physical art piece gives me an opportunity to show people in these museum spaces what I’m working on as I go, the highs and the lows, kind of like a preview to the project.”

Star Line will serve as the long-awaited follow-up to Chance’s debut studio album The Big Day, which was released to mixed reviews in 2019.
