Cassidy has recalled visiting DMX and Swizz Beatz in Arizona while working on his third album B.A.R.S. The Barry Adrian Reese Story in 2006, and shared a wild story involving X and a live scorpion.

The Philly native appeared on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, where he remembered the time the Yonkers legend was riding an ATV and smashed a scorpion’s tail off with a rock, before picking it up with its blood gushing out of his ruptured body.

“I went back to Arizona for my third album,” Cassidy began. “That was the last time I was really around X, went to his crib… X was in a positive zone. I was liking how he was carrying it at that time.

“One of the memorable moments was when he showed me this giant scorpion we was riding past. He was on the four-wheeler, we was in the car and he was leading us back to the road to leave. And then he turned around and said, ‘Yo, y’all wanna see a scorpion?’

Cas continued: “He took a rock and threw it down and it made the scorpion tail come off. He picked it up like this, and poison was dripping and he was like, ‘Look, look!'”

That would be the last time Cassidy kicked it with DMX, who he remembers as a “wild” yet good-natured character. The “I’m a Hustla” hitmaker spent time on the same Ruff Ryders label as X.

“That’s how I remembered him,” he added. “[DMX] didn’t give a fuck about nothing. He was just wild, but a good dude.”
