Cardi B has revealed she’s still earning “millions” of dollars from Invasion of Privacy, despite the album being half a decade old.
The Bronx bombshell was showered with gifts from her team on Wednesday (April 5) ahead of the fifth anniversary of her Grammy-winning debut LP.

In a video posted to her Instagram Stories, Cardi is sat in the studio with her producer, J. White Did It, and engineer, Evan LaRay, as she reacts to being sent a bottle of wine, strawberry-laced cupcakes and a cake reading: “Happy 5th Anniversary!”
An Invasion of Privacy vinyl can also be seen resting on a bouquet of flowers, along with a CD copy of the album.

“What my team got me, guys!” Cardi exclaims in the clip. “Yeah! Five years! I’m still getting booked for millions of dollars with one muthafuckin’ album, bitch! Yeah, wassup? Ain’t nobody can tell me nothing,” she adds with a laugh.

Released on April 6, 2018, Invasion of Privacy was an immediate success, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with over 250,000 first-week sales. It has since been certified triple platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
The album was also met with widespread critical acclaim, winning Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards — beating out Travis Scott’sAstroworld, Pusha T’sDaytona, Nipsey Hussle’sVictory Lap and Mac Miller’sSwimming.

Its legacy has only grown in the years since its release by helping to write Cardi B into the history books. In March 2021, she became the first female rapper ever to earn a diamond song thanks to “Bodak Yellow.” (She has since extended her record with a further two diamond singles.)
The following year, Invasion of Privacy became the first album to have all of its tracks certified platinum or higher by the RIAA. “AMAZING,” she tweeted while celebrating the feat. “Can’t wait for my second album Thanks for all the love & support.”

Despite the enormous success of her debut and excitement for a follow-up project, Cardi’s sophomore album has been rather elusive. During a candid Instagram Live broadcast last year, the mother-of-two admitted that her struggle with anxiety is partly to blame for the delay.
“I’ve been having a lot of anxiety, because I know right after I drop my album, I have to go out on tour and I have bad separation anxiety from my kids,” she said.
“When it comes to music and everything, I just be feeling like I don’t be liking anything. I feel like I got so many songs and I don’t like anything. I feel like nothing is good enough… And I got so much money saved up I just be like, ‘Yeah, whatever the fuck.’”
She added: “Making music to me has become like a job that gives me anxiety because everybody just critiques everything that I do. Sometimes you don’t want to do something that gives you that much anxiety, so I just be freezing myself, but I have to let that go. I have to release more music — I have to go out there.”

Cardi appeared to kickstart the rollout for her new album in January when eagle-eyed fans noticed she had started following an Instagram page with the handle @albumcb2.
The cryptic account posted a photo of Cardi in the studio on its Instagram Story, which was originally taken by record executive/A&R Brooklyn Johnny, who has worked with the rapper since her early career.

“Y’ALL READY?! #CardiB,” he wrote in the caption, suggesting new music from the Bardi Gang beauty was imminent. Updates since then, however, have been few and far between.
There may yet be hope for a new Cardi B album dropping soon as the 30-year-old was recently announced as the headliner of this year’s Hot 97 Summer Jam, which takes place on June 4 at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York.
