Busta Rhymes has more than established longevity in Hip Hop, and now it appears that his children are following in his footsteps.
In the aptly-titled new single “Legacy,” which hit the streets on Thursday (November 23) and was included on his latest release Blockbusta, Bussa Buss teamed up with his two daughters, Cacie (aka Cién) and Mariah (aka Rai) and son Trillian.

With a beat produced by DJ Khalil, Mike & Keys and My Guy Mars, Busta waxes poetic on the evolution of fatherhood as he spits, “Bein’ a father to my kids is my greatest reward to them/ The crown holders is present, you know the answers/ My sons is with they stylists, my daughters, they gettin’ pimpin’ up/ Diamonds in they cufflinks, sure they get your reaction/ But we still sparkin’ bright like Cascade when we be in the cut/ I got my kids together, sisters and they brothers/ Everybody happy, though I wasn’t speakin’ to they mothers.”

Being in Hip Hop hasn’t always jived with Busta Rhymes’ duties as a father.
Over the summer, in an interview on Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning, the ex-Leader of the New School recalled the personal ramifications he once dealt with after he and Chris Brown performed their 2011 hit single, “Look At Me Now” featuring Lil Wayne.
“When me and Chris Brown performed ‘Look At Me Now’ at BET when Lil Wayne did not do it with us, I missed my son’s high school graduation, my oldest son’s,” he explained. “I came home from that and he was upset, and Greenhouse was still open. I threw a party for him at Greenhouse and I had Jim Jones perform, and Ace Hood perform, and I performed. He was happy about the party but he still wasn’t happy about me missing his high school graduation.”
He added: “I lived with that shit for a long time. And it didn’t matter how much I wanted to say sorry, I knew that it wouldn’t be enough.”

Later in the interview, Busta Rhymes spoke about how missing important moments in his children’s lives affected him, but now he’s arrived at a place where he’s “happy” because his sacrifices have paid off.
In addition to his three children, Blockbusta— the Brooklyn MC’s 11th studio album — also includes a bevy of high profile features, as Busta first announced a week ahead of the project’s November 24 release.
