Bun B has already established himself as one of Houston’s finest MCs and he’s about to make even bigger waves in the city’s culinary department thanks to his tasty Trill Burgers.
On Wednesday (June 7), the UGK legend finally opened the doors of his inaugural brick-and-mortar location in Houston. The 3,236-square-foot outlet will be the brand’s home for the next six months while the owners find a permanent spot for it.

“It’s been a dream for us, and it’s actually coming true,” the rapper said. “It’s been our sole goal to open up an establishment where we can serve you guys Trill Burgers consistently at a high level on a daily basis. And now we’re ready to do it. We are now officially open for business, ready to serve you.”
Located in the Montrose neighborhood of Houston, the newly opened restaurant features a drive-thru and was formerly home to one of Houston’s longest-running James Coney Island locations. You can find the restaurant at: 3607 S Shepherd Dr, Houston, TX 77098
Launched in Houston in 2021 with a series of pop-ups, Trill Burgers was crowned “best burger in America” by Good Morning America last summer. It’s also received celebrity co-signs among the likes of James Harden, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss and more – with the latter noting that the burgers are “like a Dr. Dre beat.”
Bun B has been active in the Hip Hop community for over three decades now, but his love for food only came to light recently. In an interview with HipHopDX last year, the lifelong food enthusiast explained how he ended up in the burger business.
“I’m a big boy, so I’ve always been a fan of food,” Bun B said. “A friend of mine and I started a food blog a little more than 10 years ago called You Got To Eat This, my friend Premium Pete from Brooklyn. We met in other things, but we bonded over food. And so even locally, in the city, I’ve been a big proponent of food trucks and trying to direct people to different great places to eat.”
Bun B co-owns Trill Burgers with Andy Nguyen, Nick Scurfield, Mike Pham and Fernando Valladares. The original team behind the smash burger concept conceived and realized their vision via pop-ups during the summer of 2021. During that time, the brand left a mark at several music festivals such as Coachella, Something in the Water, Rolling Loud and Rock the Bells as well the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

“I’ve been lucky to open more than a dozen fast-casual concepts, and nothing surpasses the love I have seen for Trill Burgers,” Nguyen said. “When Bun, Nick Scurfield and I first launched this concept almost two years ago, we knew we had something special on our hands. Now it’s time to take it to the next level.”
Despite being busy making a name for himself as a restaurateur, Bun B continues to work on his music. Most recently, he got back together with fellow Hip Hop veteran Statik Selektah to drop Trillstatik 2 in December of last year.
