Chicago rapper Boss Top has been sentenced to five years in prison for a gun possession conviction — but don’t expect the streets of Chicago to call for his freedom due to his alleged status as a snitch.

According to a booking sheet obtained by HipHopDX, the rapper (real name Tyree Davis) has been confined to the Statesville Correctional Center as of Tuesday (June 27).

He was officially convicted of a class two felony for possession and use of a firearm as a convicted felon, which carries a five-year sentence. At the time of publishing, his parole date is listed as “to be determined,” and his release date is sometime in 2028 if parole isn’t granted.

The other two charges — home invasion with a dangerous weapon and aggravated assault on a person — have been dismissed and their sentences have been discharged. Check out his booking sheet below.

The Chicago rapper and former protégé of Chief Keef also has a reputation for being an alleged snitch, as suggested by a Reddit post back in January.

But some fans of the drill rapper believe that Boss Top couldn’t be a snitch because the details of the case had already been known to members of law enforcement.

“They and every rapper in Chicago says much more in songs,” the Redditor wrote. “It’s no secrets who killed 90% of all the folks in Chicago that are part of this story for the last 15 years. They had their cars, notes, messages. […] They followed them on city cameras from oblock there and back. This is a slam dunk case with all they have.”

In 2021, however, the Chicago rapper and a cousin of the late King Von told VladTV that it was one of his co-defendants that snitched on him in the home invasion case, not the other way around.

Boss Top, meanwhile, is serving a sentence for a charge he caught over seven years ago. At the time of his arrest back in March of 2016, he was being held on $1million bail. If he’d been found guilty of all the charges, he would have served up to 15 years in prison.

What’s more, before he got arrested, the Chicago rapper engaged in a heated feud with his former mentor, Chief Keef, in 2014. At one point in the feud, he threatened Keef and various members of his crew in an Instagram post, which featured Top with a gun allegedly resting on his lap.
