Big Gipp has questioned whether DJ Khaled is actually as talented as people claim, while stating that the Miami-based producer is far from being “the best.”
The comments came in an interview with The Art Of Dialogue, where the Goodie Mob rapper said Khaled undoubtedly has talent, but that T-Pain deserves more praise.

“DJ Khaled is great at what he do,” Gipp said. “But I can turn around and look at a person that’s the real artist and that’s T-Pain. T-Pain really came through and really took it to another level. Song after song, hit after hit. Wrote, produce, singing, I just fuck with them type of artists, bro.”
He continued: “The ones that learned how to put together records because they were sitting besides somebody and figured out, ‘OK, this is how you put a record together. Then the next thing is me just being friends with everybody so they would rap on my music. The first time that I really got to popping was because I got a relationship with T-Pain and he gave me a hook, and after that hook my career took off.’

“But everytime you say you the best and I’m like, the first record that you can say that … that’s T-Pain. That’s not you. So I don’t understand. I don’t understand. It’s like shit, bro. I feel you, but when they say play your biggest records I hear nothing but that n-gga voice. So did you produce the track? Did you write the hook?
“But you producing how a record company produce it … but don’t be telling me you the best at what? Putting a record together? I ain’t mad at none of that. But all I’m saying is if you the best, if you the greatest, get out here and show me you can tour without any of them people rapping on your muthafuckin’ record.”
The record Gipp was referring to was “All I Do Is Win” off Khaled’s 2010 album Victory. The single, which features T-Pain, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross, was produced by DJ Nasty and LVM and peaked at No. 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has since gone on to be certified 3x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Elsewhere in his lengthy interview with Art of Dialogue,the Big Gipp rapper said 2Pac should have taken the top spot on Billboard’s Greatest Rapper’s list over Hov, and that the only reason he didn’t was because of Beyoncé.
“The only reason why you inching Jay past 2Pac is because he got God damn Beyoncé,” Gipp said. “You take Beyoncé away then shit, bar for bar, yeah, he might rap better than ‘Pac. But ‘Pac came with the heart. That’s different, that’s just different. You can never beat the heart, bro. Some people can be technical, just like the difference between Jordan and LeBron.”
He continued: “If ‘Pac was here, who you think the girl would have been with? Hold up … you still can’t act. You can’t do no movies you can’t do what ‘Pac was doing. C’mon, how can you be better than ‘Pac? … that boy was a triple threat. He did groups that was successful, solo albums that was successful and movies that was successful, hands down partner. If he had lived he would have smoked everything walking.”

Regardless of what Gipp claims, Khaled’s We The Best label just celebrated it’s biggest year yet, and during an impromptu press conference in Miami earlier this month, he announced his label would be partnering with Def Jam.
“This new chapter marks a special time for me,” Khaled said in part. “The energy at this point in my career is at an all-time high and I’m grateful to Sir Lucian Grainge for allowing me to join his empire at this stage in my journey. Together, we will achieve even greater heights and take it to the next level. I’m excited to not only partner, but to come back home to Def Jam.”
