Big Daddy Kane has shown some serious love to J. Cole and the Migos, even going so far as to refer to the former as his “hero.”
The comments were made while he was a guest on 97.9 The Box, where the rap legend gave Cole his flowers, while shouting out Kendrick Lamar, Rapsody and Lady London in the process.

“J. Cole is my hero,” he said when asked which new generation rappers inspire him. “That’s my dude right there. J. Cole is my hero. I love Kendrick as well. Rhapsody, Lady London. Lady London is a monster. She is incredible.”
Kane also saluted the trio of Quavo, Offset and the late TakeOff, comparing them to a pioneering group from Hip Hop’s early days.
“I was so hoping and praying to see another Migos album because their style reminded me of The Funky 4 + 1 with their in-and-out, and I’m a fan of their music and their fashion,” he added. “Because that’s something that’s important to me. Those dudes be fly.”
This is far from the first time Big Daddy Kane has shown support for J. Cole. The Dreamville rapper is one of several big names Kane recruited for his upcoming Netflix documentary Paragraphs I Manifest, which focuses on the art of emceeing and also features interviews with Eminem, JAY-Z, Snoop Dogg, Common, KRS-One and more.
Following his sit-down with Cole for the film, Kane took to Instagram and called him his “favorite” current MC.

“Amazing interview today with @realcoleworld. My favorite MC of this era,” he wrote. “My son loves this Brother as well. We almost done! One more to go! #paragraphsimanifest #stuyvision @flavoru.”
The Juice Crew legend also posted a video of himself talking with J. Cole about how important he is for Hip Hop.
“A lot of people out there right now are coming to people such as myself and many others, giving us our flowers and whatnot while we’re still here,” Kane says in the clip. “But listen, I wanna give this young brother right here his flowers like on the real.”
Cole looked down and replied: “Damn,” before Kane continued: “I want this brother right here to know that he is my favorite MC out here right now. This is the brother right here that makes me feel like Hip Hop is still alive and it’s here to stay when I listen to this here brother spit and listen to his music. Love you, fam.”

Kane’s comments about the Migos, meanwhile, come shortly after a 33-year-old man named Patrick Clark was arrested and charged with TakeOff’s November 1 murder.
Clark, known locally in Houston as DJ Pat, has claimed his innocence and was released on a $1 million bond earlier in January.
