Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles has responded to the recent controversy surrounding her superstar daughter allegedly throwing shade at Lizzo during a recent performance on her Renaissance Tour.
After The Jasmine Brand posted footage of Queen Bey’s performance of “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)” where she omitted Lizzo’s namedrop, the famous matriarch was quick to remind fans that Beyoncé didn’t call out her sister Solange’s name either.

“She also didn’t say her own sisters name yal should really stop,” Knowles wrote in a comment under the post.
Beyoncé seemingly responded to Lizzo’s legal troubles, as well as Erykah Badu’s recent shade, during her August 1 show at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

The former Destiny’s Child star skipped her usual shoutout to Lizzo and replaced her name with extra mentions of Erykah Badu, saying her surname four times.
“Badu, Lizzo, Kelly Rowl’” are the original lyrics, but she replaced them with: “Badu, Badu, Badu, Badu.”
Days earlier, Erykah Badu had called out Beyoncé for biting her style, accusing her of copying her signature headwear with a hat she wore on stage.
Badu took to her Instagram Stories to post comparison photos between herself and Bey’s looks, while writing: “Hmm. I guess I’m everyone’s stylist. My favorite chrome mirror hat.”

The intention behind Beyoncé namedropping Badu multiple times is unclear, and it’s possible it was meant as an acknowledgement of the R&B legend’s influence, as opposed to a shady response.
As for Lizzo, the “About Damn Time” hitmaker was sued on August 1 over accusations she fostered a hostile work environment.

Three of her former dancers filed a suit against her, Big Grrrl Big Touring and her dance captain, Shirlene Quigley, over claims of fat-shaming, sexual harassment and more, according to NBC News.
The plaintiffs claimed Lizzo once brought attention to a dancer’s weight gain, before berating then firing them after they recorded a meeting “because of a health condition.”
The dancers also accused Lizzo of pressuring them to touch a nude performer at a club in Amsterdam.
The Grammy-winner issued a lengthy response to the lawsuit on Thursday (August 3) on Instagram, dismissing the claims as “false” and “sensationalized.”

“Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed,” she wrote. “These sensationalized stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional.
“Sometimes I have to make hard decisions but it’s never my intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable or like they aren’t valued as an important part of the team. I am very open with my sexuality and expressing myself but I cannot accept or allow people to use that openness to make me out to be something I am not.”

She continued: “There is nothing I take more seriously than the respect we deserve as women in the world. I know what it feels like to be body shamed on a daily basis and would absolutely never criticize or terminate an employee because of their weight.”
