Beyoncé’s lyrics echo remarks made by her husband JAY-Z at this year’s Grammys ceremony where he took issue with the organization for never giving his wife Album of the Year.
“We want y’all to get it right,” he said while accepting the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. “We love y’all, we love y’all, we just want y’all to get it right. At least get it close to right.

“Obviously it’s subjective because, you know, it’s music and it’s opinion-based, but some things… I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year!”
He continued: “So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys, never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.
“Some of you are gonna go home tonight and feel like you’ve been robbed. Some of you may get robbed. Some of you don’t belong in the category. Nah, nah, nah. When I get nervous I tell the truth!”

“Look what it’s done to the culture,” he said in an interview with TIDAL. “Look how the energy of the world moved. They play her whole album in the club. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that. The whole entire joint — like, everything?! Every remix is amazing. Everyone’s inspired. It has inspired the world. Every remix is better than the other one.
“From anybody, we’re just finding these joints out in the street. Somebody just did a joint over Suga Free the other day — you heard this joint? (JAY pulls out his phone and plays Suga’s ‘I’d Rather Give You My Bitch.’) It’s a West Coast classic. The DJ put Bey’s vocals over this at a party and it went crazy.”

He continued: “It’s inspiring creativity. You know how The Black Album had The Grey Album [Danger Mouse’s 2004 mashup project]? And the one with Radiohead? It was called Jaydiohead [Minty Fresh Beats’ 2009 mashup]. When it just inspires creativity, that’s an album. That has to be Album of the Year. It has to be.”
Despite never winning Album of the Year, Beyoncé has won 32 Grammys, making her the most decorated artist in the show’s history.
