Anderson .Paak has called it quits on his marriage and filed for divorce from his wife of 12 years, Jaylyn Chang.
According to TMZ, the hitmaker (born Brandon Paak Anderson) filed documents asking for a dissolution of marriage on Friday (January 12), in which he’s petitioning for both joint physical and legal custody of his children.

The estranged couple shares two kids, Soul Rasheed (13) and Shine Tariq (6).
The “Come Down” singer has asked the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to his soon-to-be ex-wife. Meanwhile, his legal team is still in the process of dividing up the pair’s assets and property.

.Paak met his wife, a music student from South Korea, while she was in college. Back in 2011, before finding success as a musician, .Paak was reportedly working on a cannabis farm in Santa Barbara, California. However, he soon fell on hard times after he was fired and became homeless with his wife and infant son. The couple welcomed their second child in 2017.
Despite having been married before, .Paak previously told the hosts of The Breakfast Clubthat his second marriage is “the one that truly matters.”

On the music front, late last year, .Paak excited fans with news that new music with Knxwledge could be on the horizon.
Taking to Instagram, .Paak shared a clip of his “Old Town Road” rendition from three years ago at BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. Unrelated to the video (at least on the surface), the caption read: “It’s almost time @knxwledge.”
In 2020, Anderson .Paak revealed that he and Knxwledge were working on a new album.
“We’re working on a new one,” he told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “I was just over there the other day. We’ve been getting it in. We’ve got a bunch of stuff that we’re really happy about.”

Then in January 2022, .Paak confirmed on Instagram that the pair were in “album mode,” with the likes of Black Thought, Insecure actor Amanda Seales, and singer Lalah Hathaway showing their excitement in the comments.
