Akademiks has issued a response to Erykah Badu, who criticized the internet personality for derogatory comments he made on his live stream.
The Off the Record podcast host went on a disrespectful rant about the R&B singer earlier this month while reacting to the news that Tory Lanez had been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the July 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.

The podcaster’s bitterness towards the Grammy winner stemmed from comments she made back on a 2017 episode of Everyday Struggle, where she likened him to the cartoon mouse from Tom & Jerry.
Following Ak’s most recent rant, where he called Badu an “old-ass hoe” who has been “ran through” by several rappers, Badu stood by her 2017 claim, and relaunched a special collection of her Badu Pussy incense that featured Jerry the mouse on the front of the packaging, with closer inspection revealing the mouse to be wearing a gold chain with the word “Livingston,” which is Akademiks’ forename.

“I will give you credit, you are a marketing person and took advantage of this and I’ll give you applause,” Ak said in his live stream reply he issued to Badu on Tuesday (August 15). “Not one n-gga came to your defense, that’s how I know you’ve been spreading the pussy all over the industry.
“It’s all good though. You showed your incense, and by the way, I got some. You had the Jerry shit? That shit was fire. That was great, W move in terms of you marketing and using the opportunity.”
He went on to say: “Erykah it wasn’t that serious. You got your little joke off before. I just had to call you a little used up cum rag because if you know, you know, I’m sorry to tell you I’m keeping it a bean! I’m keeping it 100. Y’all keeping it 100 about me I’m keeping it 100 about y’all! I ain’t taking back a muthafuckin’ thing. But yeah ain’t no n-gga came to your defense.”
Ak then pivoted his attention to SZA, who he also had previously called out for being a “fat mini Lizzo.”
“Yo, SZA? 30 n-ggas called me,” Ak continued. “Nah actually one person did say [Erykah Badu] was an OG type shit. I guess. Yo SZA, I can still you’re still clout chasing shit like that. Me saying this. We could get cool and you could sell some more merch or whatever the fuck you got going on. I’m not that hurt. I just had to spin on you. You spun on me a couple years ago, there ain’t no fucking expiration date on get back!”
He concluded that he still “loves” Badu, and called her a “beautiful legend and person.”
In his initial rant, Ak aggressively ripped on Badu for the Tom And Jerry dig, and implied that she had been intimate with XXXTENTACION prior to his death.
“Erykah Badu, let me tell you this: you keep my name out your mouth too. Listen, that little Everyday Struggle shit, that was another era, my n-gga. I’m down to violate all you n-ggas these days,” he said. “Fuck what y’all got going on. You don’t mention my name, please. I don’t fuck with you neither.”
He continued: “I never fucked with Erykah Badu after she was tryna come on my show and be funny. Bitch, I don’t fuck with you after that. N-gga, wassup now? What we finna do? Bitch, you a old-ass hoe, just keep getting fucked by all these young n-ggas.”

Meanwhile, prior to Tory Lanez receiving a decade in prison, Akademiks said that he still believes the Canadian rapper didn’t shoot Megan Thee Stallion, despite being found guilty by a grand jury.
“Shit I thought he didn’t do it. I still kinda — I’m a little doubtful, but the verdict is the verdict. I think the people who were reporting at court at that time we’re biased based on what they already [thought],” he told DJ Vlad last month.
