50 Cent has celebrated the 10th anniversary of Power by lighting up the Empire State Building.
2024 marks a decade since 50 launched his successful TV universe, with Power Book II: Ghost also coming to an end this year.

To celebrate Power‘s milestone, as well as Black Music Month, the G-Unit mogul headed to the top of the famous NYC skyscraper alongside actors Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo.
50 posted photos on Instagram of himself lording over the Big Apple in a crisp red suit, as well as close-ups of an award he received commemorating the lighting ceremony.

“Top of New York, 10 year anniversary of POWER,” he wrote in the caption.
The rapper/entrepreneur also appeared in a TikTok video uploaded by Paolo in which he says while taking in the breathtaking view atop the Empire State Building: “I ain’t even gonna hold you, this shit is crazy!”

The fourth and final season of Power Book II: Ghost premiered at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan on Thursday (June 6), with the first episode airing on STARZ on Friday (June 7).
During an interview with Vulture in 2023, 50 Cent revealed that HBO, Showtime, Paramount and Hulu all turned down Power before STARZ stepped in.
“We went to all these organizations in the early stages,” he said. “They probably had something else they felt was similar, or it wasn’t what they was looking for. I’m sure now they wish they didn’t pass on it.

“And then every two years, it felt like we was auditioning for a major carrier. It’s time to renegotiate, and it would be an issue. So for me at that point, really what it is, is racism.
“Because the project is a success, but the platforms are not necessarily acknowledging things that have diversity connected to them.
He added: “I’m outperforming a lot of the shows that they had in the award-show ceremony, and they’re not putting the work in the awards show, even to watch it lose.”
50 also revealed that he took a pay cut for Power, earning just $17,000 per episode.

“There’s no one that could come and tell me to take $17,000 to act and executive produce and make music,” he said. “I gave them the theme song for ‘Power.’ I gave them the things that connected, hopefully, in a different way for it.
“You see what I’m saying? All those things for $17,000 per episode? I get paid more to go to the nightclub and wave.”
