HipHopDX Premiere: After releasing his first project of 2017, Dead or Alive, West Coast rapper Joe Moses is back with a video for one of the project’s tracks, “Straight Off Of 52nd.” Directed by Jon Champion and shot by Dareon Grace, the visual shows Moses just kicking it on the block in Inglewood, California, heading to Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles and hitting the parking lot of the Super Mall.
“I wanted to really show people where I’m from, not the glamorous L.A. that you’re used to seeing in music videos or in the movies,” Moses tells HipHopDX. “I’m showing you real LA shit.”
Dead or Alive demonstrates a range of beats, including DJ Quik’s West Coast classic “Tonight” to Tee Grizzley’s “First Day Out.” The talented MC has been turning heads on his recent collaborations with Wale and YG. Moses was also featured on YG’s “She Wish She Was” and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Wavy.” Watch the new video above.
