Doomtree rapper and Rhymesayers signee P.O.S. makes a cameo appearance in Sims‘ new VR 360 video, “What They Don’t Know,” alongside Rhymesayers co-founder Sean “Slug” Daley of Atmosphere, and fellow Minneapolis artists Har Mar Superstar, Prof and Aby Wolf. Produced by Icetep, the track is taken from his recent album, More Than Ever, and channels early ’90s techno with the Doomtree MC rapping about “LOL” tugging on his sanity. Directed by Adam J. Dunn and Sims, the video was filmed in Minneapolis and depicts plenty of debauchery.
“It’s about juxtapositions and unexpected happenings,” Sims tells DX. “Adam Dunn and I thought a bunch of things that made us laugh and made them real.”
Featuring Slug dressed up as a cat-obsessed nerd and P.O.S. as a suburban dad who is being accosted by two Jehovah’s Witnesses (a reinterpretation of the film Fallen), the video definitely delivers several comedic moments as the soundtrack bumps along. On top of the regular cut, each scene was extended and stitched together in a 360° VR experience. Every moment from every scene can be seen and viewers can seamlessly rotate to each different segment with a single swipe (or by turning your head if you have a VR headset).
