A true independent artist who still books his own studio time, coordinates his own video shoots, and organizes his own shows, Philthy Rich never stops working. Fresh off the release of SemCity MoneyMan 4, he plans to drop a video every Friday until the end of the summer.
Today, he releases “Barely Know My Name,” featuring verses from Lil B, Mozzy, Mistah F.A.B. and Celly Ru, in which the Oakland rapper and father opens up about the struggles that come with the lifestyle he’s chosen.
“They assume that you change but any wise man changes over time,” he explains. “I might have to be on the road doing shows for a week so that means I’m taking time away from my kids, and then I still have to be in the studio and make music videos. For me to be able to get all that done, it’s serious.”
