Few work harder than #ExtindoGANG’s Merlo. The upstart emcee seemingly on every scene between Austin and The Bay. His successful #15Weeks15Singles campaign has yielded two visuals so far, and his self-titled mixtape was hosted by DJ Carisma and DJ Jump Off.
“My best friend inspired me to write this song,” Merlo tells HipHopDX about the “I Don’t” video. “He made me realize that to some, this music shit is just to have fun and feel good…but to others like myself, it’s a must. I have to make it in this business and I will. I gave up everything for this knowing God will bring more back to me. It also made me realize that a lot of artists don’t have any knowledge of the game. You have to know what split sheets are and what ASCAP/BMI is. It’s more than rap. It’s business. It’s becoming wise to the life you want to live. This song also inspired me to write my upcoming EP Trap Mer. I want to teach the youth and my fans how to get to where I got. All they have to do is listen and react. As for the hook, it’s about my ex. It’s self-explanatory.”
